Shugo Densetsu is free of preservatives, coloring agents, preservatives, and antioxidants, and the ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides. It is a health supplement jointly developed by the Okinawa Health Food Cooperative Association with the Faculty of Medicine and Agriculture of Ryukyu University, Tropical Techno Center Inc. and the Okinawa Prefectural Federation of Small Business Associations over a period of three years.
The theme of the joint research is the research and development of dietary supplements to prevent lifestyle-related diseases using plants that contain medicinal ingredients for blood glucose-lowering action, Blood pressure lowering effect, and liver function promotion, as well as the synergistic effects of medicinal ingredients of tropical medicinal plants (turmeric, guava, Gymnema sylvestre, Juricon, Mangelicon, etc.) and other plants produced in Okinawa Prefecture. The product was commercialized after a long period of development by establishing a formulation technology to enhance the medicinal activity of the product through the synergistic effect of the medicinal properties of turmeric, guava, Gymnema sylvestre, Juricon, Mangelikon, and other tropical medicinal plants grown in Okinawa, and by conducting research and development of supplementary foods as preventive food for lifestyle-related diseases using biochemical, nutritional, and pharmacological methods, to develop high-value added products that appeal to Okinawa, a prefecture of longevity.
The product contains four kinds of turmeric, including spring turmeric, and four kinds of diversity herbs.
Among them, we use Okinawa Ogon, a type of turmeric that is grown only in Okinawa Prefecture.
In October 2015, this product was recognized as an excellent prefectural product of Okinawa Prefecture.
